The question is simple.

Here's my rant, taken from Guru (so keep that in mind when you read)
If you're really excited about this then you missed a huge chunk of what Guild Wars is about - guilds! I can't remember when was the last time I VQed alone with H/H, I can't remember doing a dungeon with less than 4 people, although I have to admit I did FoW with only heroes just for the fun of it. I think that if this 7 heroes thing is so big for you, then you either don't socially interact with other human beings in an MMORPG, you think you're too good for guilds and you act like it but when you think about it you realize you kinda suck at some things and don't feel like showing that when it's time to learn ... or (and probably the biggest issue here), you're unlucky and you haven't found a good guild yet.

For me 3 heroes or 7 heroes really won't make a difference. In fact, if looking from a distance, this fails the purpose of a guild / alliance. Let's say Sam Swordslasher starts to VQ alone with only heroes, then you come and ask who wants to VQ? ..*crickets* and *tumbleweed*, then you, even though you don't want to, will be "pushed" towards using 7 heroes for your VQ.

It's a double-bladed sword. Sadly.

I think 7 heroes is good idea but also bad. Its good for people that don't want to play with the sucky henchman. But its bad because it takes the fun out of playing with people in your guild or alliance. But yeah thats just what I think. afro

It's a good idea (maybe you wanna finish something really fast - get a steamroll build), but I'll still be throwing random "x mission anyone?" in the alliance, nothing beats playing with real players.

Bad players will still fail.

There should be an option: No- henchies are good enough^^
...and yes, what would be the point of Hard mode then? 7 heroes can pretty much do everything....you could as well only walk with no skills on your skillbar...

I gave up playing with random people a long time ago, whether they be random PUGs or PUGs from the alliance or guild that I am in. So this is really good news for me.

I just dislike the fact they still change basic things of the game.
It will definitely make you play less with other peeps imo.

But i think its nice for peeps who would like to some more experience in areas like uw/fow/doa etc , now they can go there with a full party and see what its like.

What's after this... add 11 heroes? So you can do the Deep and Urgoz as well w/o other players Sad ?

I have been wanting for 7 heroes (full party of heroes) for a long time. Frankly, I do not mind playing with other people, there are days that I prefer it, but if people are busy or they do not want to do anything and I want to do something, I'd rather have 7 heroes that I know exactly what to expect from them, then have 4 members of my team I can't trust cause their skills are based on old metas of the game. Hopefully, this will mean the death of uber-builds like Discord cause now we will have to balance the entire team, not just half of it (and hope the other half is decent). The next step in my preferred world is make all parties in all towns 8 members in HM (and HM only).

Totally agree with the above post.
7 heroes would make the game just another rpg game, and take all the fun out of playing with other people, and it will make it way too easy for ppl to get title and grind money before gw2, what is the point of the benefits you get from titles, weapons etc if everyone else got it? just a lame suggestion imo.

Where's the fun in getting wiped constantly because your team is made up of unreliable players?

Out of curiosity, how many people that are arguing against it main a monk?

i'm not a monk as main.

But as for reliable players... that's where the guild comes in and ally too, if your guildies are unreliable u just find some other guild.
I could say i had epic fails with guildies.. but i don;t thin there was once i didn't laugh or have fun doing w/e we failed... If u;re not having fun.. well u're taking this too serious and for crying our loud it's just a game.

Now lets see this... YEY 7 heroes... i wonder if they'll talk today or just be mindless drones like always "Like OMG OLIAS did u see that?...Crying or Very sad "... I just can't see the fun in this : )

You guys are looking at this the wrong way. If you're the type who prefers playing with other people, having 7 heroes wouldn't change anything, it doesn't stop you from forming groups with people who also enjoy playing with others. It just makes it easier for those more "independent" and like to do things their way, even if this thing doesn't pull through, they're still going to H/H.

Also, bear in mind that it's not always possible to find a group for everything. I still had to H/H ~95% of my vqs/missions since I joined this guild, if I'm forced to rely on NPCs anyway, I'd rather have 7 heroes customised to my liking than 4 henchies who run crap bars which I have very little control over.

Nay for me. Just because with 7 heroes and 1 human in party most of things including dungeons, vanq and HM missions would become really easy (imagine 5 discords + 2 RoJ) - GW will transform into solo game, imo its solo enough currently.

This was something that was pointed out on the main GW2 forums. GW1 will be effectively ending for the vast majority of people in less then a year. MOST of the current player base will be in GW2, which will effectively end the ability to even do a full party in many areas. We already see this a lot in GW1. Try getting a full party of players to do any of the early missions in the games (Say Fort Ranik) in NM. How many of us are honestly willing to help out new players in any mission before Lv 20 is required. Heck, how many request do we get EVERYDAY for help in some mission and NO ONE responds. I saw 5 request just last night (and I was busy doing VQs and I was the only one to even respond to them).

It does not matter how good the guild/alliance is. If someone is not in willing/able to help you in a mission, then you have 2 choices 1) Wait until someone is or 2) go by yourself. Yes, maybe Mighty Edi (not to pick on you, just the first name I thought of) is MORE then wiling to help you do Sanctum Cay, but Mighty Edi is not on, and won't be for 2 more hours. So should I have to wait for him to come on (no one is either on or able to help either - they are all doing DOA runs, VQ's, events, etc). Absolutely not, give me the option to choose something that I can know exactly what I can expect.

Are players (usually) better then heroes - well of course, a decent player can see what is going around him/her and adjust their attacks accordingly. A decent player can see that a player A has a specific weakness and needs help, where-as an NPC cannot see that unless its told to (and player A may not know it has that weakness)

So here is my suggestion. ^, There is no way that even ,if you are willing to help ppl, that you can help all of them. I could even say that not always do you have alliance chat on, due to need for some clean chat to be able to communicate with your friends or teammates. Also, some people(me for example) already have few persons on friends list, who daily message and ask for either advice or help. If to be honest, it does get annoying....and you will ignore the requests at times, because you just want to get some peace.
Even though, yes, everything posted above was correct, many people don't bother with helping at all.

Basically what I said, in much more detail.

Like I said earlier, having 7 heroes doesn't stop you from forming teams with other players, so why criticize/take it away from those who simply wants to have an easy time getting things over and done with? If you don't mind waiting around forming groups, good for you, some people might not have the time/patience for that, when you could have finished the task with NPCs with the time it takes to form a group.

GW had been out for 5 and a half years, it's a dying game, it's impossible to rely solely on other players for everything you do. If you think having 7 heroes is going to kill the (already dead-)game, the solution is simple: don't use them, surely there are plenty of other people who share the same view as you that you could team up with. Though I suspect you would all be taking full advantage of this new feature nonetheless.

Well I definitely prefer partying with real people. It's just a lot more fun and interesting that way. A lot less predictable too.. I pretty much know how the AI will react at any given scenario.. booooring. Given the choice between people and AI, I'll take people every time.

That said, I love the idea of 7 heroes when I just can't get a real party of humans going. The henchmen at best are passable, downright liabilities at worst. Looking at Orion in hard mode for example.. more often than not, he's just fuel for a minion bomber hero and/or a speedbump. Would be super handy for the late night gaming when not many people are around. Still trying to convert the husband to Guild Wars.. still wasting his time with WoW bleh.

Personally, 7 heroes gets a big thumbs-up from me. I like testing out new groupbuilds and 7 heroes opens up a whole new set of possibilities.
That's not to say I don't enjoy grouping with people or helping out with a mission or something, but I like H/H too.

Quite simply put; heroes exist. Whether that was a good or bad choice isn't really important. The only question is whether you want to give players the option of replacing the henchmen with heroes, which only gives people who H/H new possibilities. People who don't H/H now will not do so with more heroes. I don't really see the downside.
