Past Event - BYOB
The BYOB (Bring Your Own Build) Event is meant to be a fun, sand-lot style pick up GvG game. The idea is to have Team Captains semi-randomly select team members. The Host will try to ensure all Alliance members who wish to participate are selected for a team.
The BYOB is held every other Saturday at Noon Central, 18:00 GMT and hosted by the [DR] guild. Participants meet in the [DR] guild hall.
Players will assemble on the main stairs in front of the Guild Lord, or other area designated by the Host. The Host will then count and determine the appropriate size of the teams to facilitate maximum participation. Due to logistical reasons, the BYOB is usually limited to two teams with a maximum of 8 players (16 players maximum per round).
To be fair to those arriving on time, players arriving after team selection has begun, should stand away from the group until it is determined that there is room on the teams for additional members. If teams are full, wait until the battle is over (typically about 10 minutes or less), and new teams will be selected.
Volunteers for Team Captain will be asked to step forward and roll a 100-sided die "/roll 100". Team Captains will be determined by the highest 2 numbers rolled, with the highest number getting first-pick.
Once the Team Captains are determined, they should face the players to be selected. The highest-rolling Team Captain will pick first, and team selection will continue until teams are full or all members have been picked. Again, late-arriving players should stand back until all on-time players have been picked. The Host can be selected to make teams even after all other players have been picked.
Once teams have been selected, a Guild Scrimmage will be initiated by one of the Team Captains/leaders. Select "Guild Battle" on the Party Formation pane, then "Start Scrimmage". Reordering the teams to facilitate monk healers is recommended, but review and editing of player builds is against the rules... and would take too long anyway. The other Team Captain/leader accepts the Guild Scrimmage.
If more than 16 players show up to play, more than 2 teams may be made as determined by the host - suggested guidelines: 22-32 players = 4 teams.
If there are 4 teams: Teams #1 and 2 will scrimmage from one guild hall, while teams #3 and 4 will travel (Team Captains/leaders) to another hall.
Teams should pick up and defend the flag. Flags should be placed in the flag stand and defended. A runner can be designated, however usually resurrected members can run the flag back to the stand.
After completion of the Battle (death of the Guild Lord) teams will be returned to the guild hall. New Team Captains and new teams should be selected. Late-comers are welcome to join in subsequent rounds... just stand on the stairs and be counted.
The BYOB typically will continue through 3-5 team selection cycles, but may continue as long as there is interest. There is no entry fee or prizes for this event... it is just a lot of fun!
(This Event and 1v1 will alternate weekends)
