Hall of Monuments
Any guesses as to the benefit or effect of the HoM from GW in GW2?
I'm guessing that if you link up your GW account with your GW2 account you might have the option to have your character as a decendent of your original GW character. Another idea I had was how in 250 years ahead in time for GW2 how well available the Eye of the North will even be. It likely could be over ran by minions of the dragon forces. I'm Interested in how the dedicated minis, elite armor sets, titles, and hero/ weapon displays can/will effect GW2 characters.

Re: Hall of Monuments
To be honest I think that after we link our GW1-GW2 accounts, we'll get some tokens in GW2 that we can trade (somehow) for GW2 content.
Re: Hall of Monuments
That would hopefully be cool as long as the rewards were worthwhile.

Re: Hall of Monuments
Not to sound pessimistic but I half bet that you're going to walk into your Hall of Monuments as your new character in GW2, discover your "name sake" was some great hero who did all of of these great and not so great deeds which will convince your character that they want to be just like their name sake (think a child saying that about an adult). I don't expect anything HUGE from it unless it's going to be a case of "here's the staff that <insert your GW1 character name here> used/was presented" or the little "pet/helper" (the one which was mentioned that can help you through the game) turns out to be a mini-pet which you dedicated which will become your helper.
Although I want to say it's going to be something better than what I mentioned above, I can't see it being anything spectacular because A-Net wants people to be able to join in GW2 as a standalone game as well and not necessarily have/played GW1 all the way through. So anyone else's guess is as good as mine.

Re: Hall of Monuments
Yea, i did read that GW is going to be your fathers(in game toon) that beat the first guild wars. And in GW2 your the son of the first gw. I thought i read that somewhere, i could be wrong. But i really do hope that it will show all of our stats in the GW2 Monuments like the minis, elite heros armor, toons elite armor, weapons and Honor. It nice to think about until we get the GW2 game!!! Again its going to be fun.....

Re: Hall of Monuments
It could be title related somehow too. or a possible elite ingame emote to show off from your other account based on completed titles or HoM dedication.

Actually, they said that the rewards won't cause any great differences between old GW1 players and new GW2 players. Some sort of "good job, you played GW1 for a long time, here's a cookie" thing will exist.

Re: Hall of Monuments
While the ideea that the char you make in GW2 is a descendant of your GW char is pretty cool, I doubt it very much. It is fairly hard to imagine a Charr warrior being descended from a tiny Canthan fuman female monk. Then again, this might be just for humans, while the other races get something different.
What I would really find cool is if you were awarded in GW2 a miniature of your GW char. That would rock.
Still, I believe the bonus will be purely cosmetic - some extra armor thingie or costume, much like they did in Warhammer Online: Age of Reckoning with the special cape thingie you got for buying the Collector's Edition.
Alas, one can only hope and dream until they release it or announce the long-awaited bonus. Also, I hope the pre-release items will be good, if any...

That would be awesome
What would really be worthless if it is the same thing with HoM when you can't take anyone else in there with you to show your hard earned achievements or if it is just another Hall that you fill in the blanks for . . .

Re: Hall of Monuments
I was reading through the HoM topic on Guru and I got to thinking about how GWAMM could work out.
Since everyone is getting their own Home Instance, I thought your rank in the title could reflect the appearance. So, if you had no rank, you'd have your standard Home Instance. As the title rank goes up, the appearance would reflect this until you got to GWAMM in which you'd have your very own in-game McMansion.
And the GWAMM problem is solved by an eloquently simple solution

hopefully there will be a guy like the NPC in HoM that shows your account wide acomplishments in GW2 that can pop our GW1 bits through.

Re: Hall of Monuments
OMFG!!!!!!!!!!!!!1! (One [1] added for dramatic effect)
GO HERE NAO!!!!!1!!!!!1!!
You can actually see what you'll be getting once you leave your HoM. It'll show you exactly what you have on your account (and others as well ), and what else you need to get the maximum amount of points for all monuments.
You get everything from armor, to pets, mini's, and even titles.
Ladies and gentlemen, start your drooling now.

Re: Hall of Monuments
Little behind, started to get on that whole hall of monuments thing around 2 weeks ago... hahaha. I only have 12 points atm, but I just added another set of elite armor, and will be adding another 3 statues soon once I beat nightfall on my warrior... I plan on having a my main filled within the month, especially since I'm going on break next month ^_^

Re: Hall of Monuments
I just need hero armor minis and weapons. Titles will come naturally for me.
I will be buying year one, two, and three purples. Year one and two golds, year three whites ( two left), year four whites (8 left) and one green of any kind (no more expensive than year 2), and the cheaper celestials.
