need some vent technical help

i cant hear people on my headset anymore, my microphone works and people can hear me, i can hear game sounds, ventrilo beeps, music etc just not peoples voices.

if i plug the speakers from my monitor in then i can hear peoples voices.

this is confusing me, ive done a search on google and it seems a lot of people have the same problem but none of there solutions seem to work for me.

any ideas

i have no idea, i can't hear Edi when i'm on vent, or rafen (but i don't know if he's talking or not, cuz i hear that sound when someone pushes the button to talk but no voice after)

I could hear them all. No problem with my microphone

Be sure you don't have any of those checkboxes checked. Those can be found in the lower area of Ventrilo window.

after our test with markus, It turned out that I need new mic

as simple as it sounds, your headphones are broken lol wire loose or something has happened to me before, gotta buy a new one

nope as i can hear in game sounds, music and ventrilo beeps through headphones

Do you have a 5.1 soundcard? Check the microphone / monitor speakers input.

nope just standard stereo, sounds comes out of the monitor speakers regardless of whether it set on 2 channel speakers or headphone and the same for the headset, except peopels voices of course. ive just reinstalled ventrilo in case it got screwed up when i installed it before, i doubt thats the problem but cant think of much else to do

reinstalling vent didnt fix it.
i bought some new headphones and they work perfectly, still cant understand why my last set cause hear all sounds except peoples voices
